Rachel Dawson, LMHC

Licensed Mental Health Counselor

My name is Rachel Dawson, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (MH19525) in the state of Florida. I graduated with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University and was licensed in the state of Florida in 2021.

My professional experience includes providing counseling to individuals experiencing life changes, adjustment disorders, anxiety, depression, grief, conduct disorders, mood disorders, focus & concentration, stress management, trauma & stressor-related disorders, and work-life balance challenges.

I approach the therapeutic process from a person-centered perspective. Meaning that you, the client is empowered and credited for taking ownership of your counseling process. My goal is to address your needs and personal patterns with tactful, honest grace. My approach is informed by integrating cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness approaches. I use these methods to help you learn the tools and perspectives to apply in your daily life and relationships.

At the beginning of your counseling journey, I focus on building a therapeutic rapport, while gaining an understanding of the impact of presenting concerns on your mental, emotional, physical, social health. If you desire an integration of your spiritual beliefs, I attempt to learn the significance and impact of your faith on your development. Then we integrate the tenants of your faith into the interventions used throughout the counseling process.

After gaining an understanding of your presenting concerns and establishing a working rapport, I work alongside you to establish clinical treatment goals tailored to the changes and growth you are ready to pursue. Then we work together in sessions to learn, practice, and implement tools and perspectives that will help you meet your goals. My intention is to support you as you find direction and hope for the life you desire.

As a garden thrives with water, so to the weary soul thrives with direction and hope.

Life transitions are often overlooked as a contribution to mental health. However, these transitions are both meaningful and impactful. Common life transitions you may consider for treatment are entering college and transition from college to career, career into retirement, children going to college, job loss or change, relationship loss or changes, moving or relocation, and preparing for marriage and/or children.

Counseling sessions may be held in person at our office in Ormond Beach or through telehealth counseling.  I offer daytime and evening appointments to support your busy schedule.  Please feel free to email our office directly if you have any questions: Intake@OceanVistaCounsel.com
